We took the south tram (#6 car) up to the very top of the arch. You have to duck down and climb in, there are 5 seats inside and you play kneesies with your pod-mates.
Warning - don't try this if you are claustrophobic in the least! Going up was okay, even though there was basically no air until we reached the top, but coming down was miserable - no air, we were in a metal cup inside a metal tube and it was in the 90's outside :( |

<-- Looking east, that's the Mississippi River and Illinois. |

Once you get to the top, after a little bit of waiting and some additional stair climbing, the view is pretty spectacular.
The windows are 7 inches by 27 inches to withstand the pressure put on them by the arch squeezing together at the top. |

The old courthouse above was built in 1839 and was the site of the Dred Scott case. Once again, read up on your American history or ask me :)
Notice how the walkway behind the courthouse copies the shape of the Arch?
Looking west, on the left is Busch Stadium where the baseball team plays. To the right (can't see it) is their football stadium, on the riverboat it looked to be a closed/indoor stadium. |

The sun came out and I got a good pic of the shadow of the arch over the Mississippi River! |

I've been taking pics of the postcards I've been picking up to use in scrapbooking, some of them have come out okay.
After the Arch we headed back and had dinner at Bandana's, GREAT barbeque! Mmmmmmm, I would kill for a plate of it right now! |
