| 1530 - We're on 287 heading for Wichita Falls, temp 87 degrees. Along the way we passed fields of cotton. The trick is to plant it early enough so it can mature, but late enough that once it is mature the first frost can take the leaves, making harvesting easier. |

| 1830 - We have reached Wichita Falls and are taking a quick drive around Sheppard AFB. It is 101 degrees here! We checked into a Traveller's Inn for the night, $52.00. We had dinner at a Chinese buffet next door. |

0829 - We have had our continental breakfast and are in the car, headed for Burkburnett.
This is where I went to high school. They've added to it. I couldn't really get a good overview picture of it, but it looks a lot bigger. --> |

Amazing, the sign my Dad made in 1970 is still on Ciba Rd. - a little worse for wear, but still standing! Of course he always builds things to last! --> |

<- The driveway and some of the trees are still here too! Along with the carport & storage shed that he built to withstand a nuclear blast :) |

0900 - We headed over to the WalMart in Burk, but it doesn't open until 1000, looks like the churches still hold sway in this part of the country! Temp 86 degrees.
0940 - We're back on Sheppard AFB getting gas before heading out to Granbury.
1210 - We have reached Granbury, Tx and it is 97 degrees. Went straight to their WalMart to buy more stuff and then got a hotel room. Crossed over Granbury Lake, pretty lake, it's on the next page.
As we were driving around the country trying to find the place with the dinosaur footprints, I noticed they even have tornado warning sirens out in the country. Also noticed we'd been on a Texas Forts Trail and a Texas Lake Trail. Saw no forts and only one lake - Lake Granbury! We had a pretty good tour of the County, even went thru Paluxy, don't blink or you'll miss it! We finally gave up and went back to the Comfort Inn ($68.00) to freshen up before going over to Charlie's to see Meagan, the boys, Heather and her new daughter and to wait for Charlie to get off work. He's Mom's "little" brother (he's about 6'6"). |
